Continuum of Activities
The list below represents a continuum of activities: resources categorized by Standard/Eligible Content that teachers may use to move students toward proficiency. Using LEA curriculum and available materials and resources, teachers can customize the activity statements/questions for classroom use.
This continuum of activities offers:
- Instructional activities designed to be integrated into planned lessons
- Questions/activities that grow in complexity
- Opportunities for differentiation for each student’s level of performance

Activities
- Accurately spell grade level spelling words.
- Student will predict correct spelling in an online game format.
- Revise sentences in a student-created text to ensure correct spelling by consulting a dictionary, a peer or, if using a word processing program, consulting spell check.
Answer Key/Rubric
- After being given a list of words, students can recite verbally or write them on a standard spelling test to verify spelling accuracy.
- Using a site such as http://www.vocabulary.co.il/spelling/#middle_school, students will correctly predict the proper spelling of perhaps unfamiliar words.
- Student demonstrates an understanding of proper spelling in their own writing by consulting dictionaries, peers, or, if typing on a word processing program, consulting spell check.
